The beloved and colourful Chatswood StreetFair parade will for the first time be held in the afternoon on Saturday 6 September 2025 from 2pm to 3pm, starting from the corner of Neridah Street and Victoria Avenue, up Victoria Avenue and then end on Anderson Street and Charlotte Lane. Pick the best spots on Anderson Street and Victoria Avenue to catch all the talented groups, dancers and vehicles passing by. With over 500 participants, it's a sight not to be missed.

The procession bursts with dynamic colours, striking costumes and entertainment that bring together the diverse Willoughby community. It is a celebration of our strengths through sport, culture, the arts and the environment.

Walangari Karntawarra and Diramu Aboriginal Dance and Didgeridoo

Walangari Karntawarra and Diramu Aboriginal Dance and Didgeridoo are the leaders in the fields of Aboriginal First Nations' cultural education and performance. They have recently collaborated with many government departments and international corporations including Google and Coca Cola. Often performing at State Parliament, they have opened every Royal Sydney Easter Show since 2018. Songstress Beatrice and her family won the 2023 national DanceRites competition, performing with their community group. They delight in sharing their culture with you all.

Mayor Councillor Tanya Taylor and Councillors of the City of Willoughby. We have 13 Councillors across our four wards. Mayor Tanya is the 51st Mayor of Willoughby and has lived in the City of Willoughby for more than 20 years.

Willoughby City Council & Gwydir Shire Council Exchange Students

Willoughby City Council proudly sponsors an annual student exchange program to Bingara for their Orange Festival, located in the Gwydir Shire Council area, just 600km northwest of Sydney. As part of this partnership, Gwydir students visit our Emerge Festival a few months later, reciprocating the hospitality. For over two decades, our sister city bond has flourished,. offering students from Willoughby and the Gwydir region a unique opportunity to foster lasting connections and create cherished memories through this exchange initiative. Youth services works with local school wellbeing teams to recruit young people in Years 9, 10 and 11 across the LGA annually.

 

Willoughby Band

The Willoughby Band is a dynamic community brass band with a proud tradition of musical excellence since 1959. Competing at the highest levels, it has won numerous state and national titles. The organisation includes three ensembles: A and B Grade bands, and a Junior Ensemble for students aged 10+, fostering young talent in the British brass band style. Its members include accomplished musicians with experience in professional ensembles both in Australia and abroad. Deeply rooted in the community, the band performs at civic events, runs a concert series, and partners with Willoughby City Council to enrich local cultural life.

 

Willoughby Badminton

WBA is a long-standing community badminton club with a multi-cultural character, a vibrant community with tremendous passion for badminton! Sport N Socialize is a truly a Badminton Hub in WBA which has a place for everyone: From competitive to recreational players. For kids as well as adults!   Willoughby Badminton Association (WBA) is a certified WWCC and registered badminton for more than 17 years.  All levels and age 10 years & above are welcome to join. Boys Brigade, 68th East Lindfield Company

The Boys' Brigade, 68th East Lindfield Company is a uniformed company of the Boys’ Brigade Australia. We meet at Evangelical Free Church of Australia, 28-30 Wellington Road, East Lindfield every Friday night during school term. The Boys' Brigade aims to promote 'the habits of obedience, reverence, discipline and self-respect amongst boys with the purpose of growing boys towards a true Christian manliness.'

Amongst our many activities are bible reading, prayer, marching, games, hiking, camping and various talks and training. In cooperation with the local church, we present ourselves as a supportive Christian community for boys and young men to assist in their Christian growth, balanced personal development, and leadership training, and to assist the church to reach out to the community. Our motto is, ‘Sure and steadfast.'

Willoughby City Council Bushcare

Willoughby City Council Bushcare, a volunteer program that helps regenerate and preserve bushland owned and managed by Council. They offer free training, technical advice, tools, plants, newsletters and celebrations are provided to support volunteers. 

Bushcare volunteers are essential to the preservation of Willoughby’s bushland. Groups also work in local parks, street and laneway reserves caring for native vegetation.

1st Willoughby Scouts

1st Willoughby Scout Group was established in 1925, which is 100 years this year! This scout group has Joey Scouts starting at 5 years old, Cubs from 8 years old, Scouts from 11 years old, and Venturer Scouts from 14 years old. 1st Willoughby Scouts gain leadership skills by working with their teams in all kinds of interesting challenges. They also have amazing adventures while hiking, camping, canoeing and all kinds of activities.

 

Clan MacLeod Pipe Band

Clan MacLeod Pipe Band has been part of the North Shore scene since it was formed in 1948 as the City of Mosman Pipe Band. The name was changed to Clan MacLed when the band played at Sydney Airport for the arrival of the Clan Chief, Dame Flora MacLeod, in 1963. They have played for the chiefs of the Clan many times since then, including at Duvegan Castle, the Clan base, on the Isle of Skye in Scotland. The band wears the Ancient MacLeod of Dunvegan tartan. Practices happen every Monday night at the Music Shell on St Leonards Park, North Sydney from 7:30pm and new members are always welcome to join, whether playing pipes or drums or wishing to learn.

North Shore Theatre Company

Inspire Bellydance and Zumba Gold

Bringing Arabian culture to the North Shore, Inspire Bellydance aims to share the joy and empowerment of dance for women. They promote a welcoming, nurturing and non-judgmental atmosphere and encourage personal growth through dance, while also fostering community and honouring the cultural origins of Middle Eastern cultural dances from Egypt, Lebanon, Turkey and beyond. Here at their Chatswood studio, they also teach Zumba Gold, which is a mix of world dance styles taught in a low impact format so it's perfect for more mature dancers or those with injuries, but who still want all the fun of dancing to salsa, flamenco, Bollywood and other dances from around the globe.

Taiwan Youth and Culture Association (TYCA) and Formosa Association of Student Cultural

The Taiwan Youth and Culture Association (TYCA) is a youth-led group supporting Australian youths of Taiwanese background and those interested in Taiwanese culture. TYCA promotes cultural exchange, community service, and social responsibility through workshops, events, and education about Taiwanese language, history, and culture.

One of TYCA’s key initiatives is the FASCA (Formosa Association of Student Cultural Ambassadors) training program for youths aged 12–17. FASCA empowers young people through leadership, teamwork, and cultural activities, helping them connect with their heritage and build community service skills.

TYCA’s parade float showcases Taiwan’s vibrant culture with the Electric-Techno Neon Gods and traditional Lion Dance—blending ancient traditions with modern flair in a dazzling celebration of Taiwanese identity.

Korean Traditional Musician and Dance Incorporated 'Toulim'

Toulim is a non- profit organization, who performs with four kinds of the traditional Korean musical instruments and folk dance. The group was established in 2010 by the 6 people who were passionate of the beauty of the Korean Culture. 

The mission of the group has been continued with growing members and sharing the beautiful Korean culture in Australian communities.

They feel so privileged to introduce their culture to multi- cultural society where they live in now.

MOSAIC Chinese Social Group is a vibrant community rooted in Chinese heritage, bringing together members of the local Chinese population to celebrate culture, wellness, and connection. Meeting once a week, the group gathers to practise Tai Chi and enjoy line dancing. More than just physical activity, these sessions offer a space for members to build friendships, share stories, and support their integration into broader society. The group actively participates in local events such as the Emerge Festival, International Women’s Day, and Community Consultation workshops, contributing to the multicultural vibrancy of the local community.

MOSAIC Cantonese Opera Group

We are the Cantonese Opera Group from MOSAIC, who have classes in Doughty Centre every week. There are two semesters in a year. There are about 15 students in the class. We are learning in the classroom, being guided by teacher Tse, by singing and practising some Cantonese opera gestures and ways of singing.

MOSAIC Sangam Indian Social Group

The Indian Social Group is a part of the MOSAIC Multicultural Centre under the Willoughby City Council. It celebrates Indian festivals such as Holi and Diwali, fostering connections between the Indian and local community. Additionally, it assists Indian migrants on settling in Willoughby by offering a platform to connect with both the Indian community and the broader multicultural community in the area.

We are MOSAIC Korean cultural back ground women's social group which was found in 2002. Some of us have been living here for more than 30 years and some of us are pretty new in this country. We gather every Wednesday at Dougherty centre doing Yoga, singing, dancing and social networking. So, we can enjoy healthy, happy life and feel a sense of belongings together.  

 

MOSAIC Tai Chi Group

MOSAIC Tai Chi has two groups: one Beginners and one Intermediate. Their classes are weekly on Fridays and Mondays respectively. We have a very dedicated and passionate instructor who has many years of practising and teaching this art. Tai chi is a fun way of improving balance, focus and memory.

 

MOSAIC Chinese Seniors Group

Mosaic Chinese Seniors group meet every Thursday morning. Our meetings are held in a very safe place at the Dougherty Centre. It's a place where our Seniors can get together to do some qi gong and tai chi exercises, connect with other seniors in similar age group, culture and even backgrounds. We end our meetings with a game of bingo where the winners get rewarded with small gifts.

This is a local Thai community group who encourage their children to embrace their cultural heritage through Thai dance and traditional Thai musical instruments. This group has now been based in Chatswood for more than 10 years. Please enjoy their colour and enthusiasm.

Taiwan Green-Pine Society of Australia

We are an organisation run by volunteers and association is composed of residents who immigrated from Taiwan to Australia. We care for one another and strengthen our friendships through various activities, including monthly outings in nature, weekly karaoke sessions, quarterly birthday celebrations, and festive gatherings during holidays.

 

MOSAIC Japanese Folk Dance Group

MOSAIC Japanese Folk Dance group has over 28 years history in Sydney. We would like to introduce Japanese culture and history through the Japanese Folk Dance which is called "Bon Odori" in Japan. We are a community dance group based in Chatswood, taught by Mrs Kay Tang, 2021 NSW Senior Volunteer of the Year. Our current members are in their 40s to 90s. We all enjoy performing Japanese folk dance and sharing the joy with you!

 

Willoughby - Lane Cove State Emergency Service (SES)

 The Willoughby - Lane Cove State Emergency Service (SES) provides assistance to the community in storm, flood and tsunami emergencies and is staffed entirely by volunteers. SES volunteers train every week and typically respond to emergencies such as flood rescue, severe storm damage to properties and hazardous situations such as large tree that have fallen during storms. SES volunteers also assist other emergency services helping search for missing persons or providing support during major emergencies such as bushfires.

The Willoughby - Lane Cove SES unit is situated in Naremburn with male and female members of varying ages and three emergency response vehicles. The Willoughby - Lane Cove SES always welcomes new volunteers to fill various positions within the unit with flexible volunteering options available in field response, operations centre such as telephone and radio operators, incident management, community engagement, media and other support roles.

Sydney Hanfu Association (SHA) The Sydney Hanfu Association (SHA) is dedicated to sharing and promoting traditional Chinese clothing (Hanfu) and cultural heritage in Australia. Our mission is to make Hanfu culture accessible and engaging, connecting people through cultural exchange and shared appreciation of Chinese traditions. We present Hanfu not only as historical clothing but also as a living tradition reflecting the values, artistry, and history of Chinese civilisation. Through workshops, public lectures, Hanfu showcases, and seasonal events, we create opportunities for the community to experience traditional attire, rituals, and customs in an open and inclusive environment.

SHA works closely with universities, local councils, and cultural organisations to build bridges between cultures. Our events foster understanding, spark curiosity, and inspire appreciation for the beauty of Hanfu and the rich heritage it represents. With the support of volunteers and enthusiasts from diverse backgrounds, the Sydney Hanfu Association continues to grow as a platform for cultural learning, friendship, and creativity, bringing ancient traditions to life in today’s multicultural context.

The Taiwanese Social Group has proudly participated in major events organised by Willoughby Council for over 25 years. In this vibrant, multicultural community, we share our culture through dance, educational talks, and cooking activities, creating opportunities for cultural exchange with people from all backgrounds. Like one big warm family, we contribute to the community with joy and enthusiasm. We also hold weekly classes every Thursday afternoon, led by experienced instructors.

 

Tian Guo Marching Band

The Tian Guo Marching Band is comprised entirely of practitioners of the spiritual discipline known as Falun Dafa, also known as Falun Gong. The mission of the Tian Guo Marching Band is to present and promote the beauty of Falun Dafa, which is a traditional self-cultivation practice that abides by the principles of Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance. Band members come from all ages, walks of life, and professions, and volunteer their time to bring the band’s special grand sound to cities and events around the world.
